Unless I know for a fact that I want to limit myself to just Amazon through their KDP Select program I want greater options and versions for my readers to view. There are a couple of books on Smashwords that are free that Amazon says I have to charge for.

Best thing about Smashwords is you upload two files (usually a .doc/.docx & a .JPG cover). They then do all the conversion work for you.
